Cowichan Bay Fire Rescue
Cowichan Bay Fire Rescue responds to an average of 200 emergency calls per year, in an area that covers about 170 square kilometers and includes approximately 10,000 residents. The Improvement District is much larger than Electoral Area D (Cowichan Bay). It includes parts of Cowichan Station, Koksilah, Cobble Hill, Arbutus Ridge, and other areas, along with Cowichan Bay (Electoral Area D).
Volunteer fire fighters give their personal time to serve their community. In addition to responding to calls, each year they take part in 50 training sessions, 50 maintenance sessions and countless additional training sessions, community activities, and charity events.
Not only do these firefighters fight fires, but they also often respond to medical emergencies. The BC Ambulance service frequently dispatches firefighters to act as first responders in medical situations because they are trained in First Aid and CPR and carry specialized medical equipment, such as an AED.
Fire fighters and first responders are there for us when we need them.
If you are interested in joining the Cowichan Bay Fire Rescue, please contact us! We are actively seeking new firefighters.
